Here are the top five questions that I have gotten about Dawn and I’s adoption so far. I am sure they will change over the next several months.
5. How long will the process take?
According to our agency, Gladney, the process from Africa will take between 9 months and year. This could be quicker or longer depending on how quickly Dawn and I can fill out our paper work, raise and save the money, and how quickly everything gets approved.
4. Do you know if you are getting a boy or girl?
No. We put in our application that we are open to a boy or girl. From everything we have read and heard so far girls are requested more than boys, so the likely hood of getting a boy is higher. And for those of you who are wondering I have already picked out a name for a boy, just gotta talk Dawn into it :)
3. Why did you choose Africa?
Before Dawn and I meet we both had traveled to Africa on a mission trip. We both feel in love with the people there, the culture, and everything about it. From our experience there we knew the Lord was leading us to something with Africa. Matthew 6:21 says that where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. For us we really feel like our heart is in Africa and feel the Lord has let us know that our treasure (our child) is there also.
2. Why did you choose to adopt before you had your own biological children? Will you have biological children?
Well aren’t you nosey :) But I will answer your question any ways. Dawn and I came to a point that we knew we would one day adopt. We just feel like God has lead us to adopt first before we have biological children. It excites us so much that we will one day look at our child and say we chose you first before ever having or tried to have biological children. Will we ever have biological children. We are planning on it. I guess that depends on a lot of you. Statistics say that if 7% of Christians would adopt then there would be no orphans in the world. :)
1. What are you the most excited about?
I can only speak for me, I know Dawn will update her blog soon and share her excitement about this journey we are on. I know for me I am most excited about being a dad. To know I am going to be loving a child and taking are child out of an environment where they will be loved very little thrills me.
*Maybe not a top question but I know many of you are wondering. Can I give you $5000.00 to help toward your adoption?
Yes. Haha :) Stay tuned to find out some fundraisers we will be doing though :)

During our adoption journey we learned and heard over and over and read in the Bible that the orphans are “treasures.”
Isaiah 45:3
3 I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.

so cool you answered these for people. the questions will keep coming … some will be normal and some will be totally off the wall and you will want to strangle someone.
